Ross Holloway, appartenenti rispettivamente alla necropoli &#8220;posta a circa m 700 a nord-ovest dalla sommit\u00e0 del rilievo&#8221; ed a quella detta &#8220;Faraone 1&#8221; del comprensorio di Torre Satriano, sede di un&#8217;importante comunit\u00e0 italica di cultura &#8220;nord-lucana&#8221;, indagata da M. Osanna. Grazie alla rilettura filologica dei corredi, condotta alla luce dei pi\u00f9 recenti studi sulle armi sia offensive che difensive, la datazione allora proposta al V secolo viene rialzata tra il corso del VII e i primi decenni del successivo, inquadrando le sepolture tra le pi\u00f9 antiche finora note nell\u2019area, contrassegnate anche da una precisa ideologia funeraria che trova confronti non solo tra le comunit\u00e0 &#8220;nord-lucane&#8221; ma anche tra quelle della Daunia.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\"><strong>Torre di Satriano: old discoveries, new dates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This paper takes a further look at a small group of graves first published in the 1960s by R. Ross Holloway. They were from two burial grounds. One lies \u201csome 700 metres northwest of the hilltop\u201d. The other is on the \u201cFaraone 1\u201d site in the Torre Satriano area, home to an important \u201cnord-lucana\u201d Italic community researched by M. Osanna. The original fifth century date given to the graves has been backdated to the seventh or the first decades of the sixth century. This has followed a philological re-examination of the grave goods, in the light of recent research into the differences between offensive and defensive weapons. This now places the graves among the earliest yet found in the area.
