L\u2019obiettivo di questo studio \u00e8 di ricostruire le fasi della realizzazione di Palazzo Ardinghelli-Franchi-Cappelli a L\u2019Aquila. Fortemente danneggiato dal terremoto del 2009 \u00e8 stato oggetto di imponenti restauri e si appresta a divenire sede di una sezione distaccata del MAXXI. Il palazzo, che \u00e8 stato definito \u00abforse, l\u2019esemplare pi\u00f9 pienamente barocco dell\u2019architettura \u00a0civile aquilana\u00bb, in realt\u00e0 \u00e8 un manufatto complesso e composito che conserva in s\u00e9 parti del XV secolo.\u00a0La facies \u201csettecentesca\u201d del palazzo, risale in gran parte agli anni tra il 1732 e il 1742, cio\u00e8 alla ricostruzione successiva al sisma del 1703, ma \u00e8 stata significativamente accresciuta dagli interventi successivi al terremoto che travolse la Marsica del 1915. I documenti e i disegni relativi a questi interventi, custoditi presso l\u2019Archivio Centrale dello Stato di Roma, permettono\u00a0\u00a0di approfondire la conoscenza dei progetti del 1928, ideati dall\u2019 architetto Riccardo Biolchi,\u00a0al quale si deve il completamento \u201cbarocco\u201d del prospetto, terminato solo negli anni Cinquanta del XX secolo.\u00a0I numerosi raffronti ai quali sono suscettibili gli elementi che compongono l\u2019assetto settecentesco di Palazzo Ardinghelli indicano che il linguaggio architettonico utilizzato \u00e8\u00a0\u00a0il risultato di un processo di elaborazione maturato nella Roma contemporanea che forn\u00ec un repertorio di soluzioni adottate in modo intercambiabile da maestri diversi. La presenza a L\u2019Aquila di architetti attivi nella citt\u00e0 papale\u00a0ne favorirono l\u2019assimilazione.<\/p>\n

Palazzo Ardinghelli in L\u2019Aquila: three earthquakes (1703, 1915, 2009) and a Baroque building site<\/strong><\/p>\n

This paper aims to piece together the phases of the construction of Palazzo Ardinghelli\u2013Franchi\u2013Cappelli in L\u2019Aquila. The building was badly damaged in the 2009 earthquake. Following an impressive restoration project it is soon to become a satellite of the MAXXI (Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI secolo), Rome\u2019s gallery for twenty first century art. The townhouse has been described as \u201cthe best fully Baroque example of domestic architecture in L\u2019Aquila\u201d. This is in spite of the fact that parts of the complex date back to the 1400s. The \u201c1600s\u201d part of the building actually dates to between 1732 and 1742, following a 1703 earthquake. Various extensions were built after the 1915 Marsica earthquake. Written and drawn papers documenting these changes are housed in Rome\u2019s Archivio Centrale dello Stato. They give a thorough insight into the thinking behind the architect Riccardo Biolchi\u2019s 1928 projects. It was his the idea of a \u201cBaroque\u201d facade, only to be finally completed in the 1950s. Various comparisons between some of the elements present in the 1700s wing of Palazzo Ardinghelli hint to an architectural language born of a style that had matured in the Rome of the time. A variety of solutions were adopted, fruit of various maestros, interchangeable amongst themselves. It was thanks to their presence in L\u2019Aquila at the time that this was possible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
