I documenti conservati presso l\u2019archivio del complesso hanno permesso di far luce sui tempi e sui modi con cui fu condotto l\u2019infelice restauro ad opera di Raffaele Vanni (1670) sul dipinto di Domenichino, raffigurante la <em>Madonna con il Bambino tra i Santi Filippo e Giacomo<\/em> (1626\u20131627), e sulla conseguente realizzazione della pala riparatrice di analogo soggetto del Vanni databile nello stesso anno del restauro. Inoltre, sulla base di un manoscritto settecentesco conservato presso la Biblioteca Casanatense di Roma e attraverso alcuni confronti stilistici, si propone di assegnare la paternit\u00e0 del<em> Crocifisso adorato da San Francesco<\/em> al pittore Giovan Battista Beinaschi. L\u2019opera, rimasta a lungo anonima, era stata recentemente accostata in via ipotetica alla scuola di Giacinto Brandi, artista romano il cui stile cos\u00ec affine a quello di Beinaschi ha causato spesso errori e fraintendimenti tra i due.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Church of San Lorenzo in Miranda: New documents on the restoration of the Domenichino altarpiece and a hypothetical attribution to Giovan Battista Beinaschi<\/strong><\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">\n<p>The paper deepens and broadens information about the church of San Lorenzo in Miranda and the rich decorative apparatus inside. Documents held in the church archives have shed light on when and how Raffaele Vanni (1670) unfortunately attempted to restore a painting by Domenichino. His <em>Madonna and Child with Saints Philip and James<\/em> had been painted between 1626 and 1627. The paper also looks at Vanni\u2019s realisation of an altarpiece of a similar subject to repair the damage after his work on Domenichino\u2019s, it dates to the same year as the restoration. Working from an Eighteenth\u2013century manuscript kept in the Casanatense Library in Rome, and some stylistic comparisons, it is thought that Giovan Battista Beinaschi painted the <em>Crucifix adored by Saint Francis<\/em>.
