I suoi spostamenti coinvolsero alcuni dei principali protagonisti del mercato antiquario della seconda met\u00e0 dell\u2019Ottocento: il principe banchiere Alessandro Torlonia, Alessandro Castellani e due dei maggiori collezionisti d\u2019arte dell\u2019epoca, i francesi Auguste ed Eug\u00e9ne Dutuit. Testimone dell\u2019intera vicenda fu il conte Micha\u0142 Tyszkiewicz che, a distanza di tempo, rivel\u00f2 le circostanze del rinvenimento. Il suo racconto aggiunge dettagli importanti e in contraddizione con quanto sinora noto sugli scavi condotti dai Torlonia alla Caffarella all\u2019indomani dell\u2019Unit\u00e0 d\u2019Italia.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Count Tyszkiewicz\u2019s \u201ccat\u201d. Insights into an ivory figurine found at Caffarella<\/strong><\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">\n<p>The protagonist, at the heart of the sequence of events we attempt to piece together, is a small ivory sculpture. Following its discovery, the piece travelled illicitly backwards and forwards between Italy and France. Its movements involved prominent figures in the antiques market during the latter half of the nineteenth century: the banker Prince Alessandro Torlonia, Alessandro Castellani, and two influential French art collectors of the time, Auguste and Eug\u00e9ne Dutuit. Count Micha\u0142 Tyszkiewicz, present throughout the affair, eventually revealed the circumstances surrounding its discovery.
