Al suo interno trovarono posto le riproduzioni delle pi\u00f9 importanti architetture e opere d\u2019arte dei secoli passati. Tra le opere selezionate dai due architetti responsabili, Mattew Digby Wyatt e Owen Jones, \u00e8 possibile individuare le copie di alcuni oggetti genovesi, in particolare una serie di portali rinascimentali, selezionati grazie dallo scultore Santo Varni. Il contributo ricostruisce queste vicende, analizzando le testimonianze archivistiche e fotografiche, che permettono di fare luce sulla figura dello stesso Varni e di formulare alcune riflessioni sulla fortuna della scultura rinascimentale genovese nelle collezioni museali inglesi.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>\u201cEcho the call of Genova at the Exhibition\u201d: Santo Varni and the rekindling <\/strong><\/em><em><strong>of Genoese Renaissance sculpture<\/strong><\/em><em><strong>at the Crystal Palace in London<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">In 1851 London\u2019s Great Exhibition closed and the Crystal Palace, the grandiose structure built to house the event, was relocated to the Sydenham area. It continued to be used as an exhibition centre, and within its walls reproductions of significant architectural works and masterpieces from past centuries were displayed.
