La corrispondenza di Richard Sutherland nell&#8217;Archivio Storico di Stato Russo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Estratto dal volume speciale\u00a0<em>Vincenzo Pacetti, Roma, L\u2019europa all\u2019epoca del Grand Tour\u00a0<\/em>(2017)<\/strong><\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">\n<p>Le relazioni tra Vincenzo Pacetti e i viaggiatori e diplomatici russi a Roma non sono limitati delle persone presenti nel Giornale. I documenti dell\u2019Archivio storico di stato russo rilevano anche la collaborazione di Pacetti con Richard Sutherland (1739 \u2013 1791), dal 1785 un banchiere ufficiale della Corta Imperiale di Russia.<\/p>\n<p>Con l\u2019aiuto di Pacetti, tramite marchese Giuseppe Cioja, capo della piccol\u0430 banca a Roma, Sutherland ha comprato per zarina Catarina II 17 opere della scultura antica e moderna. Adesso possiamo identificare 5-6 opere (Ermitage e Museo-tenuta \u201cPavlovsk\u201d). L\u2019opera piu\u2019 importante si trova nell\u2019Ermitage:la statua antica \u201cBacco con figura di Iside\u201d, conoscita dal Seicento e riprodotta nel ouvrage \u201cRaccolta di statue antiche e moderne\u201d (1704). Grazie ai documenti ritrovati abbiamo riconosciuto l\u2019opera di Pacetti nella versione di \u201cVenere Callipiga\u201d, anche nell\u2019Ermitage. L\u2019unita\u2019 dei documenti dell\u2019archivio russo con I\u2019informazione del Giornale conferma l\u2019acquisizione della scultura per la Russia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Vincenzo Pacetti and Russian clientele: Richard Sutherland\u2019s correspondence in the Russian State Historic Archive<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">\n<p>Relations between Vincenzo Pacetti and Russian travelers and diplomats in Rome are not limited by the names included in Giornale. Some documents from the Historical Archive in St. Petersburg prove that he had relations also with Richard Sutherland (1739\u20131791), the official banker of the Russian Imperial Court from 1785.<br \/>\nIn 1785\u20131786 Sutherland, with the help of Pacetti and Giuseppe Cioia had acquired in Rome 17 sculptures, both antique and modern. Among these works we can identify only five, four of which are now at the Hermitage. The most important of these is the statue of <em>Dionysus<\/em>, a Roman copy of a Greek original, known since the 17th century and published in the well\u2013known <em>Raccolta di statue antiche e moderne<\/em> of 1704.
