Dopo averne ripercorso la vicenda storica, con particolare riferimento all\u2019ipotetica collocazione originale e agli spostamenti che hanno interessato la scultura nel tempo, si affronta l\u2019analisi stilistica dell\u2019opera, che \u00e8 da leggere in relazione all\u2019attivit\u00e0 dell\u2019intagliatore tedesco, specializzato nella produzione di crocifissi, Giovanni Teutonico. Documentato in Umbria nell\u2019ultimo quarto del XV secolo, il maestro fu a capo di una prolifica bottega cui si ricollega, oltre a quello in esame, un cospicuo numero di esemplari ampiamente diffusi in Italia centrale.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The wooden Crucifix and its setting<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The paper focuses on the majestic fifteenth\u2013century wooden <em>Crucifix<\/em> from the chapel of the same name in Santa Maria della Pace. It stands at the center of a Renaissance marble altarpiece. The history of the wooden sculpture has been pieced together, from its hypothetical original setting and any changes in location over the years. The work is analysed stylistically, in relation to the work of the German wood sculptor Giovanni Teutonico, whose specialisation lay in the production of crucifixes. Giovanni is documented as working in Umbria in the last quarter of the fifteenth century.
