Il dipinto appartenne all\u2019Unione Pia di San Paolo Apostolo, che stabilmente, almeno a partire dal 1804, era presente nella chiesa, ed \u00e8 databile entro il primo quarto del Settecento. L\u2019opera, elaborata a partire dalle invenzioni di Carlo Maratti, \u00e8 da ascriversi probabilmente, sulla scorta delle fonti, a Giovanni Domenico Piastrini. L\u2019affresco, per via stilistica, \u00e8 riconducibile all\u2019ambito dei Ricciolini ed \u00e8 l\u2019ultima testimonianza di una lunga devozione al santo patavino che segn\u00f2 la storia della chiesa di Santa Maria della Pace a partire dal Seicento e di cui in questo saggio si raccolgono le testimonianze settecentesche.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Saint Anthony of Padua: artistic works and devotion in Santa Maria della Pace. An elucidation on the decoration of the vault of the vestibule entering the cloister <\/em><em>and a note on the painting of <\/em>Saint Anthony of Padua<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The paper presents some new information on the 18th\u2013century painting of <em>Saint Anthony of Padua adoring the Christ Child<\/em> and a previously unpublished fresco with the saint\u2019s iconographic attributes on the vault of the vestibule leading into the cloister. The painting belonged to the Pious Union of Saint Paul the Apostle, which had a constant presence in the church from at least 1804. The work was painted in the first quarter of the 1700s, drawing from Carlo Maratti\u2019s inventions. Ancient sources suggest it is a work of Giovanni Domenico Piastrini. The fresco, on the other hand, can stylistically be traced back to the circle of the Ricciolini family. Devotion to the Paduan saint had been practiced in Santa Maria della Pace since the 17th century.
