Arnaldo Bruschi (1928\u20132009) \u00e8 stato uno dei principali eredi di Gustavo Giovannoni (1873\u20131947), fondatore \u00a0della Scuola romana di Storia dell\u2019Architettura e questo saggio desidera \u00a0ricordarne l\u2019impostazione storiografica, gli scritti e il conseguente apporto teoretico e scientifico alla Scuola. Lo scritto esamina cronologicamente l\u2019intero ventaglio delle sue ricerche tra il 1955 e il 2009: dai primi lavori sulla committenza Orsini e Santacroce a Bramante architetto; \u00a0dagli studi sulle architetture dipinte agli scritti su Leon Battista Alberti; \u00a0dagli ordini architettonici all\u2019impianto icnografico e prospettico del palazzo romano. Il saggio indaga altres\u00ec il contributo metodologico dei suoi scritti e la risonanza dei suoi lavori in ambito accademico. Per quanto riguarda il contesto internazionale,\u00a0 lo studio analizza il suo apporto specifico al tema della periodizzazione del Rinascimento secondo le differenti Scuole. Infine, particolare attenzione \u00e8 stata dedicata ai suoi scambi con Christoph Luitpold Frommel, gi\u00e0 direttore della Bibliotheca Hertziana. \u00a0L\u2019analisi scientifica dei lavori generati nell\u2019ambito della loro lunga frequentazione tra il 1959 e 2009, ha permesso di\u00a0 effettuare l\u2019esame comparato dei metodi di indagine di queste due Istituzioni attraverso alcune loro ricerche specialistiche: San Pietro e Palazzo Alberini. Un ricco confronto che ha determinato, \u00a0a partire dal 1984, una serie\u00a0 di incontri\u00a0 tra il Dipartimento di Storia dell\u2019Architettura di Roma e la Bibliotheca Hertziana finalizzati alle tematiche della storia dell\u2019architettura.<\/p>\n

Arnaldo Bruschi\u2019s contribution to the Roman School of History of Architecture and his liaison with Christoph Luitpold Frommel<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Arnaldo Bruschi (1928\u20132009) was one of the principal disciples of Gustavo Giovannoni (1873\u20131947). The latter had founded the Roman School of History of Architecture. This paper aims to present the school\u2019s historiographic setup, its publications and its subsequent theoretical and scientific contribution to the world of culture. The entire body of research work of the school, between 1955 and 2009, has been examined chronologically. This runs from the work of Orsini and Santacroce on the architecture of Bramante; to an analysis of the architectural drawings and writings of Leon Battista Alberti; and the architectural orders and iconographic and perspectival layout of the Roman town house. The paper also looks into the methodological contribution of the school\u2019s writings and the impact they had on the academic world. On an international level, the paper analyses exactly how much the school contributed to the division of the Renaissance into various periods, by the various schools of thought. Particular attention has been paid to Christoph Luitpold Frommel\u2019s views on this matter. At the time, he was Director of the Bibliotheca Hertziana. Scientific analysis of the body of work produced during the lengthy collaboration between the two institutes, from 1959 to 2009, has permitted a comparison of the methods used to look at their specialised research into Saint Peter\u2019s and Palazzo Alberini. This fortuitous collaboration, which started in 1984, resulted in a series of gatherings between Rome\u2019s Department of History of Architecture and the Bibliotheca Hertziana.
