Nel corso del secolo XVI,\u00a0gli artisti francesi sono venuti a completare la loro formazione in Italia, specialmente a Roma , allo stesso titolo di quelli provenienti dagli antichi Paesi Bassi o dalla penisola iberica, ma il loro viaggio \u00e8 stato meno studiato. Questo studio prende in considerazione tre casi.<\/div>\n
1. \u2013 Geoffroy Dumonstier , uno dei membri della bottega francese del Rosso Fiorentino, deve essere partito poco dopo la morte del maestro. Le sue incisioni rivelano particolarmente la conoscenza di Polidoro da Caravaggio. Nell\u2019articolo viene pubblicato un disegno inedito dell\u2019artista tratto dalla volta della Cappella Sistina, non ripreso per\u00f2 direttamente dall\u2019affresco ma attraverso un progetto alternativo o una copia variata.<\/div>\n
2. – La participazione di Marc Duval agli affreschi di Palazzo Ricci-Sacchetti a Roma nel 1553, a suo tempo proposta da Edith Hewett, trova conferma nel confronto con le incisioni dell\u2019artista. L\u2019Autore gli restituisce anche un dipinto prossimo a Perin del Vaga, eseguito probabilmente a Genova , al momento della sua discesa in Italia.<\/div>\n

3. – Ambroise Dubois, che ha lavorato negli anni 1609-1610 nel Cabinet de Th\u00e9ag\u00e8ne a Fontainebleau, pu\u00f2 essere identificato con il pittore indicato convenzionalmente da Carl Van de Velde come \u00ab\u00a0Pseudo-Marten de Vos\u00a0\u00bb. Egli \u00e8, inoltre, l\u2019autore a Roma degli affreschi con\u00a0gli \u2018Amori degli Dei\u2019 nel Palazzo Ricci-Sacchetti, nell\u2019ala aggiunta dopo il\u00a01575 da Tiberio Ceuli. Quando, dopo il rientro ad Anversa, Dubois \u00e8 andato a stabilirsi in Francia, ha studiato Primaticcio, come dimostra, tra le altre cose, un disegno inedito tratto dalla Galerie d\u2019Ulysse.<\/p>\n

Dubois, Dumonstier, Duval \u2026: French artists in Italy to study<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the 16th century, many French artists came to complete their training in Italy, especially in Rome, in just the same way as those from the Low Countries and the Iberian peninsula, but their Italian journeys have been less studied. This study examines three cases.<\/div>\n

1. \u2013 Geoffroy Dumonstier, one of the members of the French workshop of Rosso Fiorentino, must have left for Italy shortly after the death of the master in 1540. His engravings reveal in particular knowledge of the works of Polidoro da Caravaggio. An unpublished drawing of the artist, inspired by the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, is published in the article; it is not based directly on Michelangelo\u2019s fresco, but on an alternative project or variant copy.
\n2. \u2013 The participation of Marc Duval in the frescoes of the Palazzo Ricci\u2013Sacchetti in Rome in 1553, as already proposed by Edith Hewett, is confirmed by comparison with the artist\u2019s prints. The author also attributes to him a painting close to Perin del Vaga, probably executed in Genoa, at the time of Duval\u2019s journey south to Italy.
