Prime prospettive di geografia artistica"},"content":{"rendered":"<div align=\"justify\">\n<p><strong>Estratto dal fascicolo 4 (ottobre-dicembre 2009)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Il medico e storico parigino Nicolas Houel (c.1520-1587) collezion\u00f2 in venticinque anni una\u00a0rilevante raccolta di disegni e stampe, che negli anni \u201970 propose in vendita alla regina Elisabetta I d\u2019Inghilterra. Non sembra che la trattativa abbia avuto buon fine, ma gli elenchi che rimangono nella corrispondenza sono quanto mai interessanti. La collezione grafica era ordinata per generi, cui corrispondevano 20 casse, in cui erano custoditi i volumi che raccoglievano i fogli. Conservata fino ad allora nello studio (\u201ccabinet\u201d) del medico assieme a gioie, cristalli e cose rare, la collezione\u00a0aveva carattere enciclopedico: storia sacra, storia greca, storia romana, ma anche \u201cstorie morali\u201d (cio\u00e8 allegorie a sfondo moraleggiante), \u201cdroulleries\u201d (scene fantastiche, forse anche erotiche), grottesche, ritratti di uomini illustri, paesaggi e vedute di citt\u00e0, carte geografiche, disegni di architettura; una cassa era interamente dedicata a D\u00fcrer. Houel magnifica la qualit\u00e0 dei disegni e delle stampe da lui raccolti, in particolare di artisti italiani e francesi, oltre che tedeschi. In effetti tra i disegni sicuramente provenienti dalla raccolta di Houel vi sono i fogli eleganti ed elaborati che illustrano l\u2019\u00a0<em>Histoire de la Royne Arth\u00e9mise\u00a0<\/em>\u2013 testo allegorico-celebrativo scritto dallo stesso Houel e dedicato a Caterina de\u2019Medici \u2013, eseguiti\u00a0in massima parte da Antoine Caron , ma a cui sembra abbia messo mano anche Nicol\u00f2 dell\u2019Abate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Collections of prints and drawings in the 16th century: the case of Nicolas Houel in Paris<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">\n<div>\n<p>The Parisian physician and historian Nicolas Houel (c. 1520\u20131587) amassed a large collection of prints and drawings over a period of twenty\u2013five years. In the 1570s he offered them for sale to Queen Elizabeth I of England. The negotiations seem not to have reached a successful outcome, but the works listed in the surviving correspondence are of particular interest. The collection was ordered according to genres, to which corresponded 20 chests in which the volumes containing the sheets were housed. Conserved until then in Houel\u2019s study (\u201ccabinet\u201d) together with gems, crystals and other rariora, the collection had an encyclopaedic character: sacred history, Greek history, Roman history, but also histoires morales (i.e. allegories with an ethical content), droulleries (fantastic scenes, perhaps including erotic scenes), grottesche, portraits of illustrious men, landscapes and townscapes, geographic maps, architectural drawings; one chest was entirely dedicated to D\u00fcrer. Houel tended to hype the quality of the prints and drawings he collected, in particular those of Italian and French artists, as well as German ones.
