In questo lungo periodo l&#8217;artista dipinse per il cardinale, oltre a numerosi quadri, fra i quali varie pale d&#8217;altare, anche gli affreschi del Camerino e quelli della celebre Galleria in Palazzo Farnese. I rapporti del pittore con il suo padrone furono piuttosto tempestosi e soggiacquero spesso alla rivalit\u00e0 di Farnese con gli Aldobrandini che si convert\u00ec pi\u00f9 di una volta in veri e propri ricatti. Nell&#8217; ultima parte del saggio si illuminano per la prima volta le vicende della grave malattia che colp\u00ec il pittore nel 1605 e gli imped\u00ec di lavorare fino alla morte a soli 49 anni.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Annibale Carracci and Odoardo Farnese<\/strong><\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">\n<p>The author reconstructs, on the basis of extensive documentation and an updated bibliography, the relations between the Bolognese painter Annibale Carracci and Cardinal Odoardo Farnese from 1593 to the painter\u2019s death on 15 July 1609. During this long period the artist painted for the cardinal not only many oil paintings, including various altarpieces, but also the frescoes of the Camerino and those of the famous Galleria in the Palazzo Farnese in Rome. The painter\u2019s relations with his patron were rather turbulent and often subject to the rivalry between the Farnese and the Aldobrandini which was converted more than once into what can only be called forms of blackmail.
