Questa ricerca intende indagare l\u2019origine e la fortuna delle incisioni di palazzi nel mercato calcografico romano tra la met\u00e0 del Cinquecento e l\u2019inizio del Seicento. Fondamentale a riguardo \u00e8 lo studio delle iscrizioni, l\u2019esame dei diversi stati individuati all\u2019interno delle collezioni romane e degli inventari d\u2019eredit\u00e0, divisioni e vendita, che registrano il passaggio dei rami all\u2019interno delle botteghe di stampatori e editori. Si \u00e8 cos\u00ec constatato che le prime rappresentazioni a stampa di palazzi sono all\u2019interno dello\u00a0Speculum Romanae Magnificentiae\u00a0di Antoine Lafr\u00e9ry. Nel 1549, infatti, Nicolas Beatrizet incide per il\u00a0lorenese il prospetto di Palazzo Farnese, in realt\u00e0 una derivazione in controparte da un\u2019incisione dello stesso Beatrizet, dedicata a Paolo III Farnese e pubblicata da Antonio Salamanca, primo ideatore e editore di tali soggetti. Ancora nel 1549 Lafr\u00e9ry pubblica l\u2019incisione di Palazzo Caprini e di Palazzo Stati. A queste seguirono nel 1550 il prospetto di Palazzo Alberini e nel 1560 l\u2019incisione del prospetto e del cortile di Palazzo Farnese, la pianta e la veduta del ninfeo di Villa Giulia (fronte est e ovest) e il \u201cCampidoglio antico\u201d. Infine, nel 1569 Lafr\u00e9ry edita la veduta del \u201cCampidoglio moderno\u201d inciso da Etienne Du P\u00e9rac. Le lastre passate poi agli eredi e successori di Lafr\u00e9ry \u2014 da Claude e \u00c9tienne Duchet a Nicolaus van Aelst \u2014 continuarono ad essere pubblicate e a trarne copie per tutto il\u00a0secolo successivo. Cos\u00ec, ancora nel 1773, Carlo Losi edita l\u2019incisione del prospetto di Palazzo Farnese dal rame del Salamanca.<\/p>\n

The Engravings of Palaces on the Print Market in Rome from the late Sixteenth
\nto the early Seventeenth Century<\/strong><\/p>\n

This study investigates the origin and critical success of the engraved views of palaces offered on the print market between the mid\u2013sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Fundamental for the research is the study of inscriptions on the prints, the examination of different print states identified within collections in Rome, and estate inventories and inventories of divisions and sales that record the transit of the copperplates in printers\u2019 and publishers\u2019 shops. It is thus ascertained that the first printed representations of palaces are in Antoine Lafr\u00e9ry\u2019s\u00a0Speculum Romanae Magnificentiae. In 1549, in fact, Nicolas Beatrizet engraved a view of the fa\u00e7ade of Palazzo Farnese for Lafr\u00e9ry: in reality it is an image in reverse Beatrizet derived from his own earlier engraving of the palace, dedicated to Paul III Farnese and published by Antonio Salamanca, the first ideator and publisher of such subjects. In 1549, Lafr\u00e9ry also published the engraved views of Palazzo Caprini and Palazzo Stati. These were followed in 1550 by the fa\u00e7ade of Palazzo Alberini and in 1560 by the engraving of the fa\u00e7ade and courtyard of Palazzo Farnese, the plan and view of the nymphaeum of Villa Giulia (east and west fronts) and the \u201cCampidoglio antico\u201d. Finally, in 1569 Lafr\u00e9ry published the view of the \u201cCampidoglio moderno\u201d engraved by Etienne Du P\u00e9rac. The plates were passed down to Lafr\u00e9ry\u2019s heirs and successors \u2014 from Claude and \u00c9tienne Duchet to Nicolaus van Aelst \u2014 and continued to be published and to produce copies through the following century.
