Nei palazzi di et\u00e0 moderna, il camino si attesta come polo prospettico monumentale delle sale e delle camere e condivide la natura dell\u2019architettura e, contemporaneamente, quella della scultura. Non raramente anche quella della pittura.
\nIl camino monumentale quale viene elaborato dall\u2019architettura tra Quattrocento e Seicento diviene un autentico altare dinastico secolare, nei quali sono pi\u00f9 evidenti i valori simbolici e rappresentativi svolti dai decori domestici, aristocratici e curiali all\u2019interno dei palazzi e delle ville.
\nLa natura polimorfica e sfaccettata del camino, che non ha precedenti da imitare nel mondo antico, ne fa uno strumento funzionale e, al tempo stesso, un lussuoso apparato di arredo arricchito dalla mobilit\u00e0 spettacolare delle fiamme. Esso partecipa alla natura strutturale della porta e dei portali per il suo assetto trilitico e il varco che apre nel muro, ma con una densit\u00e0 tipologica sorprendente, riconoscibile nella selezione di esempi dei quali questo studio da conto. Alla variet\u00e0 delle forme corrisponde l\u2019impiego di una molteplicit\u00e0 di materiali pregiati e di sofisticate tecniche fabbrili. Ancora una volta si deve alla committenza Farnese un salto di qualit\u00e0 artistica e tipologica nei canoni polimaterici, la cui misura \u00e8 manifesta nella Sala d\u2019Ercole nel palazzo di famiglia.\u00a0Lo studio riferisce i camini romani a precedenti esempi fiorentini e ne ricerca i riflessi o le differenze in regioni anche lontane da Roma, talvolta d\u2019oltralpe. Non diversamente dai soffitti, i camini rivelano un sorprendente statuto erratico che li porta a migrare dai palazzi d\u2019origine a dimore remote e a musei sparsi in tutto il mondo.<\/div>\n

Fireplaces in the palaces of Rome<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the great halls of early modern palaces, the fireplace stands out as a monumental visual perspective point. As a medium it shares its nature with both architecture and sculpture and, not infrequently, also with painting.
\nThe monumental fireplace as it evolved between the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries becomes an authentic secular dynastic altar in which the symbolic and representative values \u200b\u200bexpressed in the domestic, aristocratic and curial furnishings of palaces and villas are in greater evidence.
\nThe polymorphic and faceted nature of the fireplace, a typology without ancient precedents for imitation, makes it a functional tool and at the same time, a luxurious furnishing enhanced by the spectacular mobility of the flames. It participates in the structural nature of the door and the portal for its trilateral design and opening in the wall, but shows a striking typological density that will be apparent in the selection of examples accounted for in this study. The multiplicity of forms corresponds to the use of a variety of valuable materials and sophisticated manufacturing techniques. Yet again, Farnese patronage is behind the artistic and typological quantum leap in mixed\u2013media canons, the measure of which is manifest in the Sala d\u2019Ercole in their family palace.
\nThe study refers to Florentine precedents for the fireplaces in Rome, and explores reflections or differences in regions farther afield, including transalpine areas. Not unlike Rome\u2019s ceilings, the city\u2019s fireplaces reveal an astonishing tendency to wander that has led them to migrate from their palaces of origin to faraway domestic settings and museums all over the world.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
