Il presente articolo \u00e8 dedicato alla produzione grafica svolta nella manifattura Righetti. Com\u2019\u00e8 noto Francesco Righetti (1749-1819) fu tra i principali bronzisti romani alla fine del XVIII e l\u2019inizio del XIX secolo e, grazie alla preziosa collaborazione del figlio Luigi (1780-1852), realizz\u00f2 non solo raffinate copie in bronzo, ma anche candelieri, centrotavola e trofei in cui combinava bronzi e marmi diversi.
\nIn particolare si esaminano qui due progetti di cui si conservano significative testimonianze delle varie fasi ideative. Il primo \u00e8 quello per un trofeo da presentare a Caterina II in occasione della recente vittoria della Russia sull\u2019Impero Ottomano (1792), progettato e disegnato da Francesco Righetti, mentre il secondo \u00e8 un progetto per un trofeo simile (1815), abbozzato da Luigi e in seguito corretto con le modifiche suggerite dal padre, che doveva celebrare il ritorno di Ferdinando I di Borbone, quale re delle Due Sicilie. La documentazione relativa a questi due progetti, oltre a descrivere in modo dettagliato i due trofei e l\u2019idea che ne \u00e8 alla base, getta nuova luce sull\u2019organizzazione della manifattura Righetti, sul ruolo assunto da Francesco e da Luigi, nonch\u00e8 sulla promozione delle loro opere.<\/p>\n

Candelabra, table centrepieces and trophies: some designs from the workshop of Francesco and Luigi Righetti<\/strong><\/p>\n

This article focuses on the drawings produced in the Righetti workshop. As noted in the article, Francesco Righetti (1749\u20131819) was one of the main Roman bronze workers at the end of the eighteenth and beginning of the nineteenth century. Thanks to the precious collaboration with his son Luigi (1780\u20131852), he realised not only very fine copies in bronze, but also candelabra, table centrepieces and trophies, for which he combined bronze with various marbles.
\nThe article examines two projects in particular, where significant evidence of the various steps in the design process have been preserved. The first is a trophy to be presented to Catherine II upon the occasion of Russia\u2019s recent victory over the Ottoman Empire (1792), designed and drawn by Francesco Righetti, while the second is a design for a similar trophy (1815) sketched by Luigi, subsequently modified according to changes suggested by Righetti senior. This object was meant to celebrate the reinstatement of Ferdinand I of Bourbon as King of the Two Sicilies. The corresponding documentation for the two projects, besides describing in detail the two trophies and the ideas underlying their design, throws new light on the organisation and promotion of the Righetti workshop and the roles played by Francesco and Luigi.
