Fino a pochi anno fa, i rari studi dedicati alla sua opera tendevano a catalogarlo come un epigono provinciale della stagione architettonica del secondo Cinquecento fiorentino.<br \/>\nLo studio sistematico delle sue realizzazioni, da quelle documentate a quelle che in questo studio gli vengono per la prima volta assegnate, passando per quelle che tradizionalmente gli vengono attribuite, ha permesso di delineare un ritratto completo e sfaccettato del Lafri. Le novit\u00e0 emerse lo inquadrano sotto una luce diversa e ci mostrano un personaggio perfettamente inserito nel dibattito architettonico della Toscana della sua epoca: dall\u2019apprendistato nella bottega del padre legnaiolo, seguendo uno schema assai diffuso nei domini fiorentini, fino ai contatti e alla collaborazione con diversi membri della bottega di Giambologna, proprio nel periodo in cui il grande artista fiammingo si accostava alla architettura. Se, nell\u2019attivit\u00e0 architettonica del Lafri, i punti di riferimento ricorrenti saranno Giorgio Vasari e il suo \u201cMichelangiolismo Smorzato\u201d e, poi, Giambologna, tuttavia non mancarono risultati personali di estremo interesse, inseribili senza riserve tra le pi\u00f9 significative realizzazioni nel Granducato al passaggio tra XVI e XVII secolo.<br \/>\nL\u2019oblio a cui la sua vicenda professionale \u00e8 stata condannata, probabilmente dovuto alla sua scelta di operare in provincia e di non spostarsi mai in un grande centro, non ha permesso una corretta valutazione del valore della produzione lafriana ed ha anzi falsato in maniera significativa la percezione di un gruppo di architetture che pi\u00f9 di ogni altre ha dato alla citt\u00e0 di Pistoia l\u2019immagine severa che percepiamo ancora oggi.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><strong>For Jacopo Lafri&#8217;s architectural activity in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany between Vasari and Giambologna<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>in the 16th and 17th centuries<\/strong><\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">Jacopo Lafri\u2019s professional activity developed between the 16th and 17th centuries in and around his native Pistoia. Until just a few years ago, the rare studies dedicated to his work tended to classify him as a provincial imitator of Florentine architecture from the second half of the Cinquecento.
