An Etruscan polychromatic painted vase from Tomb 454 on Monte Abatone<\/strong><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">Etruscan polychromatic vases are a rare type of pottery found in Etruria. This paper presents a previously unpublished polychromatic vase. It\u2019s decorated with a scene of satyrs dancing in the woods. The find comes from Tomb 454 on the Monte Abatone necropolis of the Etruscan city of Caere. The piece is a stand for a small dinos or amphora and dates to around 500\u2013480 BCE. Polychromatic stands in general seem to have been produced locally in Caere, as were the few other examples from the Banditaccia necropolis and the Tolfa region. They have always been defined as measuring cups. The example from Lerici Tomb 454 is exceptional. Among the colours used to decorate the vase there\u2019s vermillion and Egyptian blue. Gold leaf, used to pick out certain details, is visible under the microscope. The technique and motifs are reminiscent of tomb paintings in Tarquinia and painted clay plates from Caere.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">\n<p>I vasi policromi etruschi costituiscono una produzione ceramica piuttosto rara in Etruria ed il seguente lavoro presenta un esemplare inedito, decorato con una scena di satiri che danzano nel bosco. Il reperto proviene dalla tomba 454 della necropoli di Monte Abatone, nella citt\u00e0 etrusca di Caere, ed \u00e8 un supporto per un piccolo dinos o un&#8217;anfora, databile al 500-480 a.C. circa; i supporti policromi in generale sembrano essere una produzione locale di Caere, come anche i pochi altri esempi provenienti dalla necropoli della Banditaccia e dalla regione della Tolfa. L&#8217;esemplare della tomba 454 \u00e8 eccezionale: tra i colori utilizzati per decorare il vaso ci sono il vermiglio e il blu egiziano ed \u00e8 visibile al microscopio la foglia d&#8217;oro utilizzata per impreziosire alcuni dettagli.
