Nel corso dei restauri condotti tra il 2018 e il 2020, nelle volte di alcuni ambienti di Palazzo Naselli (1529–1537), sono stati ritrovati elementi fittili annegati nel conglomerato cementizio. Il testo ripercorre la storia della tecnica costruttiva di queste strutture di copertura e cerca di evidenziarne le relazioni con le testimonianze materiali più antiche, con i trattati di architettura e con i progetti contemporanei al palazzo. Lo studio si è posto l’obiettivo di fornire nuovi indizi per chiarire l’origine di questo sistema costruttivo, nonché di individuare modelli e riferimenti alla base di una scelta inedita in ambito estense.
Clay elements in the construction of the vaults of Palazzo Naselli Crispi in Ferrara. History and geography on Sixteenth–century Este building sites
Palazzo Naselli (1529–1537) was restored between 2018 and 2020. During the work, clay elements came to light, immersed in the cement conglomerate of the vaults of some rooms. The paper traces the building techniques used for the construction of these ceilings, and highlights the relationship between the earliest material evidence, architectural treatises and the architectural projects of the time. The study attempts to provide new clues to clarify the origins of this building technique, as well as identifying models and references at the roots of an unprecedented choice for the area around Este.
